Abstract

|
Objectives£ºThe purpose of this study was to investigate the difference between alcoholic schizophrenic patients and nonalcoholic schizophrenic patients on Temperament and Character Inventory profiles.
Methods£ºWe compared 47 alcoholic schizophrenic patients with 72 non-alcoholic schizophrenic patients. All subjects were assessed by demographic variables, GAF, PANSS, NAST, and TCI.
Results£º1) Alcoholic schizophrenic patients showed higher Novelty-Seeking scores than non-alcoholic schizophrenic patients. 2) Alcoholic schizophrenic patients have had more total number of hospitalization than non-alcoholic schizophrenic patients.
Conclusion£ºThe findings of this study suggest that alcoholic schizophrenic patients have higher Novelty-Seeking score than non-alcoholic schizophrenic patients. There exists similar temperament characteristic in patients with alcohol-related disorders between with and without schizophrenia.
